The multidisciplinary review question
Molecular tumor boards consider how pathology, genomic findings, clinical history and therapeutic evidence fit together. Clear scientific summaries can help experts discuss both the promise and the uncertainty of a reported biomarker.
Evidence preparation
A focused evidence brief can organize variant interpretation, potential molecular mechanisms, relevant clinical studies, treatment context, and open questions for multidisciplinary discussion. Any conclusions remain subject to team review.
Distinguishing evidence strength
Approved disease-specific indications, guideline-supported options, early-phase signals, preclinical observations and isolated case reports do not carry equal weight. Distinguishing these categories makes a review more useful.
Resistance and co-alterations
When supported by the available literature, interpretation may consider resistance mutations, co-occurring alterations and known assay limitations. A mechanistic hypothesis should not be represented as proven clinical benefit.
MPO’s role
MPO offers scientific evidence review to support oncology professionals. It does not convene or substitute for a formal tumor board, establish diagnoses, prescribe therapies or replace the judgment of the treating clinician.
