From a biomarker to a study question
Clinical trial research can begin with a tumor type, disease stage, molecular alteration, treatment history, and the clinical purpose of the search. A shared biomarker does not automatically make a trial suitable.
Eligibility is more than one mutation
Protocol requirements may include measurable disease, performance status, organ function, prior therapies, biomarker assay conditions, geographical access and recruiting status. Eligibility can change as studies amend protocols.
What an evidence review can provide
MPO can organize potentially relevant trials and investigational treatment strategies, summarize their scientific rationale, and flag key eligibility questions for discussion by the clinical team.
Verification with primary sources
Trial records and sponsor or site teams should be consulted for current recruiting status, eligibility, available locations and enrollment pathways. ClinicalTrials.gov offers a publicly searchable study registry.
Clinical oversight
Identification of a trial is not a determination of eligibility, medical suitability or guaranteed access. Enrollment and medical decisions remain with investigators and responsible clinicians.
